This is painful
If you send out branded emails from a system (for example from a mass email aggregator for customer or client updates from things like the Shopify platform, or from MailChimp) - your emails might not be getting to their intended targets unless the DNS records for your domain contain what's called a DMARC entry. This doesn’t apply to everyone using these types of systems for emailing - only if you are using YOUR branded domain to send them. As an example, if you tell Shopify to send out messages to your retail clients from hello@yourbusinessname.com. If you let the system send from their generic address (an example is something like: salesevent@shopify.system.com) - then you don’t need to worry about this.
Whats the fix? - Go through a somewhat agonizing DMARC process for your URL by adding the records necessary.
The second issue that literally started happening about 48 hours ago is similar, but only affects Google Workspace accounts sending emails to Yahoo and eMail accounts. If you are sending eMails from a Google Workspace account to people with a Yahoo (or believe it or not, AOL) account - Yahoo is most likely blocking the emails. Many of you may have seen error emails saying the email wasn't deliverable.
What’s the fix? - If you have noticed your emails are bouncing from Yahoo (or god help us) AOL accounts, you will need to make some updates to your DNS records.
Squarespace put out a nice little support article about how to do this if your URL is currently held by Squarespace ...but these instructions also are fairly accurate if your URL is held by GoDaddy or some other provider. Here is the article.
